Pioneers Asia: Bringing the festival t to Asia!

999 entrepreneurs, investors, and corporate leaders from Asia and Europe meet in Tokyo, March 2016 to experience future technologies and build a next-level network.

(1) FINTECH FINTECH: THE BUZZ IS REAL

Sheel Mohnot, a partner in a new vertical fund targeting fintech startups at San Francisco-based 500 Startups, discusses opportunities for global growth in the field especially in Asia where the population is huge and the banking infrastructure is not so developed, but almost everyone has a smartphone.

(2) PIONEERS ASIA CHALLENGE FINALS Finalists can be viewed here

Top 5 finalists of Pioneers Asia Challenge hold their presentations in front of the audience. Among them three are from Japan ; Whill, innovative electric wheelchair manufacturer, Molcure, antibody drug development using machine learning and Moneytree, a personal finance app startup. Two from Europe are Maintool, smart watch developer using traditional watches from Spain and Naio Technologies which makes agriculture robots for weeding from France.

(3) PIONEERS KEYNOTE SPEECH
THE IMPORTANCE OF FAILURE: PERCEIVED & ACTUAL RISK

Andy Walshe, a world-famous performance coach and the director of Red Bull's High Performance Team, emphasizes that the importance of failure is generally very underestimated. He says that the failure is not seen as a mistake, but rather as the path to succeed; failure is an indication that you are learning and progressing.

(4) AWARD CEREMONY

The Pioneers Asia startup event welcomed many companies from Asia and Europe, and Japan's electric wheelchair maker WHILL won the main Challenge competition.
